Our Graduates Excel...

Brad Armstrong

"The teachers and staff at St. Luke's taught me not to merely accept the information I am given, but to question and analyze every piece of it. This simple concept has made me learn and retain a vast amount of information. I would have been lost without it."

The Intermediate School supports the developmental needs for students in the fifth through ninth grades. The faculty recognizes that students are making the transition from childhood to adolescence and strive to make this a positive and significant journey. A safe, supportive learning environment is paramount in promoting kindness and teaching appropriate behavior. Excellence in intellectual endeavors is promoted. In keeping with St. Luke's mission statement of providing a superior college preparatory education in a Christian environment, weekly chapel services are attended by students and staff.

Intermediate School students attend classes from 8:00 a.m. until 3:20 p.m. Class sizes are limited to twenty students. Students have an eight-period day with core academic classes in language arts, math, science, social studies, and Spanish. Music, art, drama, Latin, physical education, technology, religion, philosophy and library complement the core curriculum.

Evaluation and communication with parents are strong components of the Intermediate School. Report cards are issued quarterly as well as interim grades. Advisors are assigned to each student and are attentive to the advisee's well being as a member of the school community as well as academic progress. Parent conferences are held in the fall and spring and are encouraged whenever they are deemed necessary.

Our Winter Sports program is an integral component of the educational program at St. Luke's. It provides meaningful opportunities that enhance the daily physical education curriculum for students in first through ninth grade. It typically takes place for several days between January and February and includes on-site and off-site programs for students. The winter sports may include skiing, snowboarding, swimming, bowling, lacrosse, gymnastics, tennis and soccer..
